Band Camp – Recap; Volunteers and Staff
Big thank you to all the parents for helping with band camp.  This year’s band camp went very well!

New Business

Booster Fees

Booster fees are $5 for the year.  Make checks out to “Coronado Band Boosters” with “Booster Fees” written in the memo section.  These fees give you voting rights at meetings.

CHARMS website

WWW.charmsoffice.com is an online website available with listings for fees due, calendar dates, handouts, notices, and the option of e-mailing Doc.  School ID to login in is CoronadoDons and the password is your child’s school ID.   Please check student info to make necessary changes.

The other band website is www.donsband.org.

Football Season – Dates on the calendar

Home games are listed.  May go to Arcadia game, this is a big game and a rival team.  Band Booster President will be at all games and competitions.

Volunteer Staffing

Concessions Stand - Volunteers for concessions stand will need to get a food handler’s card.  These are free for volunteers.  Test booklet, locations, and hours of operation are listed on the Charms website.  Mlee can also e-mail you a copy of the booklet.  There are 20 simple questions on the test.  This card is good for 3 years and must be carried on you when working the concessions stand.

Set up for concessions starts at 4:30 pm.  5-6 people will be needed at all home games for concessions for set up, close down, snow-cones, popcorn, and cotton candy machines.

Hydration Team – 5 people are needed per game to help keep the band hydrated.

Fanny Runners – 2 people are needed to cover the bleachers so the band uniforms do not get dirty.  These volunteers will also need to take the runners home, wash them, and bring them to the next game.

Uniforms – 2 people are needed to help Dede Powers on game and competition days to adjust uniforms.  These should only be minor repairs and alterations

Braids – 2-3 volunteers to help French Braid long hair, on both girls and boys, on game days and competition days.

Spring Tour

Contact Doc if you are interested in chaperoning.  The kids go for a competition as well as fun.  This is an opportunity for the band to come together once again, though is not required.  Students may miss one day of school, but will have sufficient notice to get their school work ahead of time.  Location and dates to be announced.  Chaperones must fill out an application, must be over 21, and watch a short video.  Keep in mind, there are 77-83 kids in the band this year.

 Competitions

This is our first State Marching Championship.  We will be listed as competitive so we can compete.  However, all students must be passing all of their classes.  Any student with a failing grade must stand at attention on the sidelines during the performance.

Red and Blue Envelopes

These envelopes cannot go towards tax credit, but do count as a charitable tax deduction.  Receipts are available.  Red envelopes are for Spring Tour, Blue Envelopes are for salaries for student teachers.  Each board, when filled, will bring in $5050.  We will look into having boards available at games and concerts.

 Tax Credit

There is a form available on the Charms website.

Fundraisers

Fry’s – Gift cards are available with $5 already on them. Simply load them before shopping, and a portion of what you spend will go to the Band Boosters.  These make wonderful gifts, and can be used at any Kroger store across the nation.

Albertson’s – Community Partner Card are available.  Simply scan them at the register, and a portion of what you spend will go to Band Boosters.

Lolo’s Chicken – Owner has agreed to work on a fundraiser in the next month or 2.

+/- Change – Students are teamed by section.  Pennies = positive number, and all other cash = a negative number.  The section with the highest positive number wins.

Senior Picture -   Seniors would like to take out a full page add in the yearbook with a picture of the seniors in full uniform.  Cost is $20 per senior.

Hand Fans – Would like to order paper hand fans with Dons logo on them and sell at the games.  We will have to get approval for this through the Student Government.
